Schools - Clarksville Elementary - About Us
With students from pre-school to fourth grade, Clarksville Elementary’s highly qualified staff works hard to ensure every child reaches his or her highest potential.
The school of about 470 students has many opportunities for students, including physical education, music and art programs. Two ESL (English as a second language) aides, two speech pathologists and more work to make sure all the needs of our students are met.
The faculty and students at Clarksville Elementary work diligently at mastering state standards, developing positive relationships between students and students as well as students and staff, and involving parents in positive way in the education of Clarksville students. It is the goal of the school to create a foundation of success through these means. It is because of this dedication that in May of 2006, Clarksville was named an Exemplary School by the Indiana Department of Education.
At Clarksville Elementary, we hold the following beliefs:
• Students learn best when they are actively engaged in the learning process.
• Students learn best when our staff maintains high expectations for learning and provides all children an opportunity to learn.
• Motivation to learn is influenced by a student's emotional and physical state, beliefs, interests, goals and habits of thinking.
• Teachers, administrators, parents and the community share the responsibility for helping students learn.
• Effective school leaders engage in practices that support the ongoing improvement of teaching and student performance.
• A safe and physically comfortable environment promotes student learning.
