Online Registration for the 2013-2014 School Year posted by Nikolette Langdon |

Beginning with the 2013-2014 school year, Clarksville Community School Corporation (CCSC) will offer
two registration options to parents with returning students to CCSC - on-line and/or in-person.
On-line registration will open on July 23, 2013 and will remain open through the start of the 2013-2014
school year.
Parents will need log-in access, which will be mailed to all returning students on July 8, 2013. All information pertaining to your student’s registration will be available during the online registration.
This would include paying textbook rental and fees, accessing free or reduced meal applications, and more.
For individuals without internet access, in-person registration for the 2013-2014 school year will be held
on July 23 from 9:00 a.m. to Noon and 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. This will take place in the Clarksville High
School gymnasium, for returning students.
New students to the corporation, will register July 24–July 26 by appointment only.

About Mr. Roark
Shawn Roark is the Band Director and Elementary Music Educator for Clarksville Community Schools. His responsibilities include serving as conductor of the High School and Middle School Bands, Coordinator of the athletic pep band, and teaching K-12 courses in music education.
Before joining the faculty at Clarksville Community Schools, Roark spent fourteen years in Kentucky directing band and providing music education at North Hardin High School, James T. Alton Middle School, Green County Schools, and LaRue County High School. Some of Roark’s honors include being named Fourth District KMEA Middle School Teacher of the Year from 1993 – 1995 and Rotary Club Teacher of the Year for his work supporting James T. Alton Middle School in 1995 – 1996.
Roark holds his Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Louisville and his Masters of Music plus 39 hours of Doctorate work with Louisiana State University. Roark has numerous years of current and past performance experience with The Louisville Orchestra - Utility Trumpet, Heartland Brass Quintet – Trumpet Player, Commonwealth Brass Band – Cornet Player, Baton Rouge Symphony – Principal Trumpet, Baton Rouge Symphony – Utility Trumpet, and Gulf Coast Symphony – Utility Trumpet.
Roark believes to be a successful music educator you must keep your skills current by incorporating performance activities into every week and be a continuous learner.

CHS Band Syllabus
Expectations

Playing tests may include the following

Scales or rudiments for percussion

Musical excerpts from music being worked on in class or exercises and etudes

Performances are part of the students grade. Students are also expected to perform in pep band unless they are a member of the football or basketball team. Point reductions will be given to students out of uniform.
Written exams may be given throughout the year covering all aspects of music education. Including music terms, theory, history, fingerings/slide positions and tuning.
Semester Finals
Each semester final will include a playing test and possibly a written exam.
